Mountain Equipment is a UK outdoor clothing and equipment manufacturer based in Cheshire, England, that's been 'Above & Beyond since 1961'.
As a company, I rate Mountain Equipment very highly, having used their shell jackets and gloves for many years to protect myself from the elements (primarily their Lhotse waterproof jacket, Super Alpine gloves and Randonne Mitts). Mountain Equipment's Ion bivvy bag has also kept me dry for many a Winter's night as a sleeping bag cover and I rave about their Citadel jacket [read my review] as a winter bivvy / belay parka. Mountain Equipment was also one of the earliest outdoor companies in the UK (I believe) to ethically source and trace the down they use in their products and, in 2015, announced that all their down was sourced from approved and audited supply chains.
Given Mountain Equipment's pedigree, I was pleased when their Marketing department approached me last year to request the use of one of my images in their Spring Summer 2017 Equipment Workbook. The image is of the Isle of Rum Cuillin hills from near Mallaig in Scotland, the night before we headed to the island on a ferry for a weekend's backpacking and bothy adventure. My thanks to Duncan Machin (then Marketing Manager at Mountain Equipment) for choosing to use my image.
