Earlier this year I headed to the north of Scotland for a mountain running shoot with Arc'teryx and Silva sponsored athlete Tessa Hill. Tessa competes in the Skyrunning World Series races alongside the likes of Kilian Jornet and Emilie Forsberg. She's also a member of the Great Britain Orienteering squad and a well-known runner in the UK fell-running scene.
In the run up to our photo shoot, we covered off the essential pre-production tasks, which included discussing the brief in detail, agreeing collaboratively what shots we were after, scoping out where best to go and agreeing the wardrobe (Tessa had a selection of new season Arc'teryx gear).
In Scotland, you're spoilt for choice for great mountain running locations with 282 Munros (Scottish mountains over 914.4m/3000ft high) all within a 5-6 hour drive from Edinburgh. With input from local climbing guide and experienced mountain runner, Paul Tattersall (Go Further Scotland) - who joined us for the shoot - we decided to head to Glen Torridon and photograph Tessa and Paul running on the mountains of Liathach and Beinn Eighe (with the addition of an evening trip up Stac Pollaidh at the end of day 1).
The result was an excellent 2 days spent in good company and great weather, capturing shots that Tessa, Paul, Arc'teryx and Silva all received positively.
