A few weeks back, I headed out with local ultra runner, Joanne Thom, for a promotional mountain running shoot on Meall nan Tarmachan, a Munro in the South-East Highlands of Scotland.

Despite a decent weather forecast, we spent the night before the shoot not even sure we would go outside as we huddled inside the car at the Ben Lawyers car park and waited for the rain to stop thrashing against the windows.

Come morning, the rain had passed and we headed up the mountain by torch-light at 6.30am. I don't always find early starts worth it for adventure sports images (I prefer evening light as you can shoot both sides of the sunset) but we struck lucky when dawn broke and we had some great light for 30-40 minutes as the sun rose over Ben Lawyers (1,214m) and enabled us to capture a good variety of trail / mountain running images.

I've posted a photo from the shoot below. The black and white conversion I've included because I like the clouds. Feel free to join the conversation on Facebook and let me know which one you prefer.
