I met up recently with Scottish triathletes, Stuart Macleod and Hazel Smith, as they trained in the Trossachs, a picturesque part of Scotland, only 1.5 hours from Edinburgh, and a great location for outdoor and adventure sports photography.
Originally from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Hazel Smith moved to Scotland in 2008 for work. She started doing triathlons for fun in 2010 and in 2014 became the standard and sprint distance British age group champion. In 2014, she also raced to become the Scottish reserve athlete for the Commonwealth Games relay team.
Hazel's partner, Stuart Macleod, specialises in long course endurance events such as the Celtman (three top 4 finishes), Norseman - the original extreme triathlon - and the Otillo, a 75km swim/run race in the Swedish archipelago. He's also well known for his 'underground' adventures, such as tackling the Celtman Extreme Triathlon route in Winter, which he did on the Winter Solstice in 2013 with his friend, triathlon coach Alan Cardwell.
