I spent the weekend hillwalking in Rum with friends. Highlight of the trip was a bivvy on top of Ainshval, one of Rum's two Corbetts. Although Ainshval is only 2,500ft high, the view from the top is spectacular - a 360 degree view taking in Skye, Eigg, Muick, Canna, the Hebrides and much of Scotland's mainland west coast.
Weather-wise, it was 30 degree temperatures all three days. Which sounds good but it was far too hot for walking. It also meant a rubbish light for hillwalking pictures - sunny, shadows and bare blue skies. On the plus side, we had a better light for evening landscapes.
